APCCMPD Becomes an Independently Managed Association

We are pleased to announce that on August 1, 2014 the Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Program Medicine Directors (APCCMPD) became an independent organization.

In 1984, the APCCMPD was founded with the mission of improving communications among program directors, providing a mechanism of communication among stakeholder organizations on matters involving fellowship training, accreditation and the funding of the educational mission. For the last twenty years, the American College of Chest Physicians has provided our organization with staff and resources, helping us to flourish and grow. We are deeply grateful for their generous and enthusiastic support throughout these years.

This year, after lengthy consideration, the Board of Directors decided that we should manage ourselves independently. Although we intend to maintain a very close business relationship with CHEST, this new structure will allow us to expand upon our mission, and support Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Training Programs, their faculty and staff.

We are very pleased to announce that Joyce Bruno Reitzner, LPN, MBA, MIPH has agreed to join us as our full-time Executive Director. Joyce had been with CHEST for ten years, serving as Director of Healthcare Practice and Standards and as part-time Executive Director of the APCCMPD. Leveraging her seventeen years of experience in healthcare and not-for-profit management, she will lead us in expanding our operations, as well as growing and diversifying our educational offerings.

The Association will continue to be headquartered in Chicago, but at a new address. Our new contact information is:
