APCCMPD Award for Innovative Fellowship Program Administration
 

NOMINATION DEADLINE: Check Back for the 2025 Award Cycle

Purpose

The APCCMPD Award for Innovative Fellowship Program Administration recognizes outstanding contributions to fellowship program administration through the development of novel best practices in pulmonary, critical care, and pulmonary/critical care medicine fellowship programs. Program Administrators, Program Coordinators, Program Managers and equivalent roles are encouraged to submit an abstract describing the implementation of a successful effort or program applied to the administrative operations of the fellowship program.

Suggested areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • New Fellow Recruitment
  • Quality Improvement/Patient Safety
  • Fellow and/or Faculty Wellness
  • Site Visit Preparation
  • Program Coordinators Leadership and Development
  • Fellow and/or Faculty Evaluations
  • Administration of the Clinical Competency Committee
  • Program Evaluations
  • Duty Hour Monitoring
  • Other efforts that address unique issues of the fellowship program

The APCCMPD values all contributions to medical education and would like to provide ways for Program Administrators and Coordinators to further enhance their CV's. All authors and their abstracts, regardless of award status, will be recognized in APCCMPD’s quarterly newsletter, on the APCCMPD website, and in the APCCMPD 2024 Annual Conference Awards Program, as well as given the opportunity to present a poster of their abstract at the APCCMPD Annual Conference. Oral and poster presentations of the abstract will satisfy TAGME requirements for initial certification and maintenance of certification.

Eligibility and Review Criteria

A recipient of the APCCMPD Award for Innovative Fellowship Program Administration will be a Program Administrator, Program Coordinator, Program Manager, or equivalent role within an APCCMPD member fellowship program. 

Abstract Submission Requirements

The online abstract submission form will require the following for completion:
  • Name, email address, academic title and institution for each contributing author.
  • A .jpg-format color photograph of each author (head and shoulders). Headshots will be used in the APCCMPD 2024 Annual Conference Awards Program. Submitted headshots will not be shared with the Awards Review Committee.
  • Confirmation that, if selected, the awardee will attend the APCCMPD Annual Conference.

Abstract Grading 

All abstracts will be anonymized prior to the Awards Review Committee reviewing the submitted abstracts. All abstracts will be graded on the quality of the abstract submission and the innovation and novelty of the successful effort or program presented in the abstract. 

Awardee Recognition

  • The awardee will be invited to present their abstract at the APCCMPD 2024 Annual Conference during the Program Coordinator Workshop to be held February 28-March 1 in Las Vegas, NV.
  • The awardee will receive complimentary registration to the APCCMPD Annual Conference.
